Landscape Design for Your Fall Gathering

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Leaves are changing colors to burnt orange, gold, brown, and beautiful shades of red. The air is cool and crisp, and it’s finally time to enjoy hot cider and fall cookouts. If you’re looking to have a fall gathering, it’s time to consider your landscape design. While you could let the natural landscape shine, landscape design will let your backyard be beautiful each year and give you the power to make decisions about how you’d like it to look and where you’d like to have gathering places.

Fall Landscape Design Ideas

autumn landscapeThe first thing to do in any design is clean up. Make sure that your yard is cleaned up from the summer season, and that there are not an excessive amount of leaves on the ground. While some leaves can be pretty, eventually leaves can cause damage to your lawn and any landscape design that you have by rotting on them and attracting pests. Make sure to rake up leaves, mow your lawn until the first frost, and trim back trees and shrubs. If you’re not sure what to do, give us a call and we can help you out–or provide maintenance services!

After cleanup, it’s time to think about what you want out of your yard for your fall gathering or party. Are you looking for big open areas to play games? Lots of little conversation areas? An outdoor kitchen area with patio? Or something else? Any of these can be a great choice for a fall party, but it depends on what you want to do at your gathering. Let’s say you’d like a landscape design with a lot of little conversation areas so that guests can all have a place to sit, stand, chat, and relax at your gathering. In this case, we would work with you to find the best grasses, flowers, shrubs, and trees to go with your budget, your ideas, and your goal for the space. For small conversation areas, it might be a good idea to have hardscaping elements, like pavers, connecting all the spaces together with pathways. Beautiful flowers and grasses could decorate each area, and trees and shrubs can be placed as needed–trees and shrubs are great for fall!

Decorate Your Space for Autumn

Beautiful corn, pumpkins, gourds, and warm lighting will make your party shine. Bring out the fall colors in force with red, orange, yellow, and brown all around your backyard. These can be in the form of placemats, ribbons, chair cushions, plates and napkins, and tablecloths. If you really want to get into the spirit, try pumpkin pie, apple cider, and other fall foods to serve your guests. If you’re looking for a more relaxed affair, it’s time to fire up the grill and get cooking. Brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, and beans are always a great fall favorite.
