Summer Hardscaping Outdoor Areas

It’s finally summer, and it’s time to take advantage of the beautiful weather! Swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, or any other number of activities are all great ideas. However, when you just want to spend a relaxing weekend at home, hardscaping outdoor areas can be a great option.

What is Hardscaping?

Outdoor living areas sound great, but what exactly is hardscaping? Hardscaping is just the opposite of landscaping. While landscaping involves planting trees or shrubs or creating a garden space, hardscaping is a little different. Usually, it involves stone, pavers, and the like to create pathways, driveways, retaining walls, patios, and more. Hardscaping can be a great way to incorporate beautiful design and style into your backyard without plants and flowers that you need to take care of throughout the year. While you may have some upkeep with hardscaping, like washing the stones off or minor repairs, there will be less than taking care of landscaping.

Outdoor Areas for Summer

If you’re looking for wonderful outdoor areas for summer, Heartwoods Landscaping Inc. creates beautiful patio, fire pit areas, or water features. Each one is customizable to your interests. We help you make decisions about how to put everything in its place so it looks beautiful and well-balanced. However, we will take all of your ideas, wants, and needs into account and create a custom design. We also have pre-designed options that you can choose from that will make the job easier and less stressful for you.

A patio is a great place to relax with friends and have a few drinks. Rather than staying inside when the weather is beautiful, take advantage of your backyard! It’s time to invest in a patio area through Heartwoods Landscaping Inc. We use hardscaping to create a beautiful stone patio area that will keep you out of the grass (and away from the direct path of bugs). Why not incorporate a fire pit and sitting wall into the design? This is a great idea for the kids to roast marshmallows and a nice place to sit when the night becomes cooler.

A water feature is also a wonderful option for an outdoor area to enjoy. You not only benefit from a beautiful natural landscape, but it can add value to your property. Try a simple stone waterfall or something more complex like a small pond with greenery and a stone patio surround. This is a nice option for a relaxing outdoor dinner or party with the sound of running water in the background and the tranquility of such a pond. Surrounding the water feature, we install retaining walls and a patio and pathway to accent the water feature. From big to small, we work with you to accommodate you while still keeping in mind the dimensions of your backyard and the style of your home. Everything should mesh and look great as a whole, and we make it happen.

How are Stone Pavers Installed?

Will this process tear up my yard? Whether you want a water feature, a patio, or a pathway, what the install process entails and how long it will take will vary. However, in general, the process to install stone pavers is fairly straightforward.

The ground is dug out shallowly to make room for the pavers and assure they’re stable in the ground. The soil will then be compacted so that there are no issues with settling over time. We add crushed gravel and smoothed/level it, and a layer of builder’s sand is added. Pavers are installed and more builder’s sand is spread on top of that. The design is created before installation and we show you for approval. Your pavers are installed. The process does differ depending on what you’re looking for with hardscaping.
